In February 2009, Mainstream was awarded the exclusive right to develop the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm in Scottish territorial waters. With a capacity of 450MW, the project is located in the outer Forth Estuary, some 30km north of Torness.
'Neart na Gaoithe' is Gaelic for 'strength of the wind'.
